How to Grow Rich – Not Only Financially

November 29, 2009 By Susan Gunelius

Guest post by Anna Dworaczynska (learn more about Anna at the end of this post)

I recently realized I have been spending every minute of my free time reading personal development books. I am currently studying Think and Grow Richby Napoleon Hill.

As I spend at least an hour commuting to work, reading seems like the only reasonable thing to do. Moscow is currently experiencing a true ‘reading boom’  and seeing the Muscovites without it, is unusual. The pace of life in Moscow is fast and vibrant, and I would say it isn’t very different from other major European cities.

The reason I touch on the type of books I read is because I can’t remember the last time I read something truly for pleasure and it scared me a little.

Am I becoming obsessed with my self–development? career?

I used to read a lot of classics and literature. However, in the midst of a constant pressure for personal growth, I stopped. I have entirely limited myself to self–development and ignored nourishing other parts of me.

Is it time for us to start reading different types of books? The type that don’t necessarily teach us how to establish another business successfully, but the ones that make you look at your life and your priorities from another angle?

I know for me it is.

I go through differnt stages with books. Ive done the personal development thing (T & G Rich is a goodie), and I think that period lasted about 6 months. Must have gone through about 30 of them.

Recently I became obsessed with crime thrillers and read 28 back to back.

In the last two weeks I’ve started on business books and wouldnt consider reading anything else.

The thing is that when you read a book of any type that you enjoy, you just want more, so you can end up reading a series of books in the same vein. But you will get bored and need something else at some piont.

Mid you, it can work out an expensive and space consuming addiction. I cant throw a book away. They are all my little paper friends. Sad eh?

Wealth building, network marketing and sales planning all need good strategies. Personal development seems hard to me but now I started reading different books and materials like CD, DVD and its being easy for me. Thanks for your helpful post which will help me in future.
