3 Strategies for Effectively Communicating with Your Customers

November 6, 2014 By Toni Nelson

email communicationsWhen you look at large corporations, it can sometimes feel like you will never have the success they have. They have more manpower and bigger advertising budgets as well as brand recognition. Does that mean that a small business doesn’t have a chance?

There are a lot of “mom and pop” businesses that started out in their kitchens or garages and then grew. Some of these businesses turned into large corporations others stayed more localized.

Rather than think you can’t grow big or become better known, take note of what these corporations are doing. These large corporations are utilizing effective communication strategies with their customers.

Communicating with your customers should be on the top of your agenda. They can provide you with valuable data that you need in order to take your marketing campaigns in the right direction. The information they provide can help you improve you business.

When you use the right communication strategies you can also cement your business in consumers’ minds so they become loyal repeat customers. The problem is many businesses miss this important step.   This can spell disaster because your customers don’t feel you value them.

Here are three strategies for avoiding this mistake so you can effectively communicate with your customers and grow your business.

1. Ask for Feedback

Whether it’s good or bad, feedback can save your business. It will enable you to make the necessary tweaks. You will be able to improve upon what’s working and get rid of what’s not.

How do you get this feedback? You can send out a survey in your email messages. You can make it an anonymous poll so it’s easier for them to provide you with the information you’re looking for.

2. Stay in Touch

You need to stay in touch with your customers, and this is why it’s so critical that you try to capture their email addresses. Just because someone makes a purchase from you doesn’t mean your company is on the top of their mind.

Being able to reach out to customers on a regular basis builds that business relationship. Make your customers feel “special”.

3. Get Creative

Utilize what I call your “P” Factor. In other words, put your personality into your business. Don’t make your marketing pieces boring. Stand out from the competition by making it visually appealing.

Use visuals to create a wow factor in your marketing pieces. You want to capture their attention.

Customers are More than a Dollar Sign

Learning to communicate effectively doesn’t have to be difficult. You want to connect with your customers. You want to reach out to them on a more personal level. They are more than just a dollar sign.

Are you using any of these strategies to grow your business?
