Can any “passion” be turned into a business?

June 2, 2010 By Mahsa Shamsipour

Many people I speak to wish they could start their own business or be their own boss. I’ve become a huge advocate for entrepreneurialism over the past year or so and I believe people can turn their passions into a successful business.

However, is that the case for everyone? Can anyone just be passionate about something and turn it into a money-making business?

Where do we draw the line between being passionate about something and actually being able to turn it into a viable business?

I don’t want to discourage anyone, but I don’t want to lead anyone on the wrong path either by saying, “Because you’re passionate about it, it will work” or is that the case?

This week’s blog is more out of curiousity and a desire to find the reasons some people go for it and give it their all, and those who don’t.

What are your thoughts?

Any passion can be turned into a business. But not anyone just passionate about something can turn it into a money-making business.
The passion must be backed with business sense, whether that sense comes from the ‘passionate one’ or a partner. The most difficult part of starting a business based solely on passion is separating yourself from the business – it’s the only way a business can grow.

There are so many people in this world that there are certain to be a group of people that have the same passion and that want to do business with the business – the key is to find them, listen to them, provide the answer to their problem related to the ‘passion’.

I’m passionate about many things, but I’m not sure if I have the drive to actually start my own business. I’ve seen the hard work it takes to start a business and sadly it sometimes can take the passion away.

This is a great post because it’s something I feel a lot of people wonder about.
