Integrating Team Building into Employee Training

January 23, 2014 By Silvia Pellegrini

There are a lot of different reasons why companies employ team-building activities. Teamwork leads to more productivity, creativity, and interaction, and it turns people into more successful individuals and workers.

Training your event staff using team-building exercises can make for a more flexible, fluid, and efficient event experience.

Why Do Companies Train Using Team Building Exercises?

Team building exercises are effective in training event staff for a variety of reasons. For example, team building helps to:

  • Improve communication
  • Boost morale
  • Enhance motivation
  • Act as ice breakers to help people get to know each other better
  • Teach people how to work on projects with one another
  • Teach people more about their tasks
  • Teach people about strengths and weaknesses

These kinds of activities can be used by big and small businesses to promote greater teamwork in the work place, because as managers and owners know, great teamwork is one of the primary factors associated with the success of a company.

Types of Team Building Activities

There are four primary kinds of team-building activities:

  • Communication exercises
  • Decision-making or problem-solving activities
  • Planning or adaptability activities
  • Trust-building activities

The main idea is to do various kinds of activities that are not only challenging and fun but also have a “side effect” of building skills for teamwork that can improve productivity and employee performance at a place of business or at an event.

When you’re trying to decide what kind of team-building exercises would be best suited for your team, you have to start thinking about what kind of challenges your team has to deal with. Only then will you able to pick exercises that will be effective in helping them to work through those issues.
