How to Have a Website That Drives Leads

July 28, 2016 By Monika Beck

website drives leads

Your website is one of your most important marketing assets. When it comes to lead generation, your website is more important than your Facebook Page or any other social network presence.

Your lead generation is incomplete without an exceptional website.

With your website, you are in control. Having an account on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, or Google+ means that you are controlled by their rules. That is why you must place your website above all other web presences.

What you can control yourself has the greatest value for your business.

Control means that you can publish whatever you want, whenever you want to your own website. You don’t have to worry about Facebook changing the rules on you or Twitter deleting your account because you did something they didn’t like.

With your own website, you can have a coordinated plan to get visitors that will turn into customers. If you use different platforms for your business and do not have a website, you’ll be less effective. It’s better to have a website so you can draw all of your marketing efforts to one place. Structured platforms that link back to one website will capture your visitors.

A proper website for lead generation will have multiple landing pages. A visitor doesn’t always want to be directed to the homepage. They want specific information and don’t want to have to search for it everywhere.

For each offer you have, there needs to be a customized landing page.

This way a visitor can be converted into a lead. Something to help you do this is to offer a free webinar or ebook that they have an interest in. Webinars and downloadable content will help you get your potential leads. Your goal is to get their contact information.

Don’t underestimate the importance of SEO. SEO will help your visitors find you on search engines. It’s an important part of your inbound marketing strategy. Make sure you rank high on search engines by using the latest ranking factors. Also, study your competition and what they do to get their sites ranking.

Nowadays, most internet traffic is coming from mobile users. You don’t want to be a business that is only operating their website with a desktop design. If you are, you need to change your website to a mobile-friendly responsive design. This way you are generating leads from all visitors.

Remember that content is everything.

Your content with the right call to action is what converts a visitor into a lead.

You want your content to be engaging and informative. A great idea is to have content that aids every part of the buying cycle, but be careful when giving away any free content. Make sure that you are getting quality traffic in return.

If you have a great website, it will help you build trust with your visitors.

A website for lead generation must have a high trust factor.

Offer guarantees and show social proof. Show why people should trust you.

Use your marketing intelligence to your advantage. Study your traffic sources and what channels visitors are coming to your website from. Know your analytics so you aren’t chasing worthless leads. Make sure you generate quality leads. Find out what works then scale it up.

Your website can become your most important lead generation asset, but it doesn’t happen accidentally. You have to work hard creating the right content, attracting the right visitors, and generating the right leads. Use social media to enhance your website, but never in place of your website. A quality website is what helps you collect data, give out great content, and generate leads.
