Start and Scale Your Business in 2022 by Transforming Your Mindset

December 30, 2021 By Community Member

growth mindset

Does your New Year’s resolution include starting or scaling your business in 2022? One of the most important things for you to do is transform your mindset.

One of the most important qualities that the successful entrepreneurs have is a growth mindset.

What is a Growth Mindset?

A growth mindset is a belief that basic qualities like aptitudes and intelligence can be cultivated through effort. So even if some people are born with certain talents and personality traits, others who aren’t can gain them.

This type of mindset has a couple underlying principles. The first is maintaining an internal locus of control. This means a person sees how they have power in a situation even when something happens to them that appears to be from an external source.

The approach with this is to believe that things are happening for you rather than to you. People without this mindset often feel like life is happening to them and that they’re a victim to their circumstances.

Changing Your Locus of Control

Even though you can’t control what happens to you, you can control how you react to the situation. One way to start developing an internal locus of control is by developing a bias towards action.

People who feel like life is out of their control are unlikely to take action because they think it won’t make a difference. This is a bias towards inaction. In order to change, you need a bias towards action.

Start by taking action on small things to show to yourself that you have more influence over your life than you thought. Keep one promise to yourself everyday. It could be something like drinking a glass of water when you wake up or completing a certain task. This can be empowering and is a good way to build confidence in yourself.

Improve Internal Dialogue

Another way to improve your mindset is by changing the way you talk to yourself. It’s important to pay attention to the comments you make to yourself and change the dialogue.

For example:

  • If you hear yourself thinking: “You don’t know enough and will fail at that”
  • Change it to: “All successful people start without knowing everything and fail along the way”

Mindset growth doesn’t happen overnight and there are many tools and strategies you can implement through daily practice to make a huge difference. These are just a couple to help you on your journey as a successful entrepreneur.
