The number of female students graduating from college recently surpassed the number of men graduating from college. The number of college graduates continuing their education for post graduate degrees is also increasing and women make up a large percentage of these graduate students.

In the business world, the right graduate degree can quickly advance your career. If you are getting ready to enroll in a Master’s program, check out some of the most popular degrees women in business are earning right now.

Accounting
If you long to be in the financial side of business, a Master’s in Accounting is the way to go. This program is usually only one year long. The main focus of an Accounting Master’s program is to prepare for the Certified Public Accountant Exam. Obtaining your CPA can open many doors and opportunities in the business world. In this program, you become extremely literate in accounting, taxes, and the business applications of accounting.

Human Resources
HR is a very important part of the business world. Obtaining a Master’s of Human Resource Management will increase your business knowledge. This degree can help you learn about training and development, company branding, and employee relations. This is a great degree for those interested in HR and the workings of a business.

MBA
A Master’s of Business Administration is the most popular master’s degree earned in business. If you are interested in operations management and the administrative side of business, a MBA could be for you. Your first step though is to prepare for and take the GMAT. This test is used for admission to a MBA program.

Because this is such a popular degree, schools offer multiple ways to earn this degree. Generally, the degree takes two years to complete. However, schools also offer alternative approaches to obtaining the degree. Part–time MBA programs usually take three years. Classes are held in the evenings and on weekends. The Executive MBA program is two years, but geared toward those with at least ten years of management experience. The EMBA is done while still working full-time.

International Business
More and more women are entering the international business world. This program focuses on the global economy and how to conduct business across the globe. This degree also teaches you about international business operations. Knowing another language can be very beneficial in this program and for success in the field.

If you’re one of the many ambitious women planning to start a master’s program to further your career, you may want to consider one of these popular graduate degrees. The right degree mixed with the right work experience and background can quickly move you up the corporate ladder into a well paying and rewarding career.
