Recently there has been buzz around New York City Mayor Michael Blumberg giving support to a local start-up Zaarly.  So how did Zaarly land a prominent leader to support their start-up?

Women vs. Men in the Game of VC Funding

Why is it much harder for women to receive VC funding for a start-up? According to Penelope Trunk from VentureBeat in an article posted “women aren’t cut out for entrepreneurship” Trunk suggested that women are too distracted by childbearing and desires for much more.

Let’s look at this closely – while men may seem to be more aggressive, invincible, and much tougher. Women tend to have the feminine leadership qualities. We are successful with team-building, thoughtful management, partnership building, and market savvy. So why is it hard for us? Disadvantages: we lack the emotional disconnect with VC ‘s – most VC’s are led by men – we can’t possibly connect with men. If there were more of a balance of women VC’s – female-led companies would have a greater chance of being funded. Read more on this article here.
