12 Foolproof Tips for Great Blog Post Ideas

great blog post ideas

Do you love being a blogger but hate coming up with blog post ideas regularly? Instead, you can have an endless stream of articles your readers will love, and share on their social media, by following these simple steps to come up with great blog post ideas:

1. Get a Little Help from Friends

Ask everyone on your team, your colleagues, and even friends to write blog posts on their views of your niche. Appealing and exceptional blogs are created this way. Allow other high-quality bloggers to submit guest posts for your publication on your blog.

2. Different Perspective on Published Articles

Read industry sites and look at a blog post topic from a different point of view. Maybe you disagree with the writer’s close or you have more information to share on the topic. Either of these points could become a blog post.

3. Reuse Older Blog Posts

Look through your past posts — especially ones that were popular with your readers — to find general topics. How about updating a subject that was written over a year ago, or make a blog post from a video that was well received? This blog post can be a video transcription, or it can be an explanation of the video matter.

4. Look for Ideas Outside

On occasion, the top way to get excellent writing ideas is to not write! Take a break and do activities that you enjoy, such as walking your dog or reading a good book. Funny, you will be amazed at how new thoughts seem to just come when you least expect them. Remember to carry a notebook with you to capture these ideas for writing blog posts.

5. A + B = C – A New Idea

A big word for this method is called Combined Relevance, which means adding together two non-related items to get a unique twist on a theme. Think outside the box. What does your dog think about your niche topic? Or your cat, your grandmother, your accountant?

6. Simple is Beautiful

Often, expert bloggers, like you, overlook the fact that lots of people want to start, or review again, the basics about multifaceted subjects. Simple posts that nicely explain the details about niches are often well-received and shared a lot on social media by appreciative readers.

7. Details, Details, Details

Many industries have evergreen topics that can be covered in many articles since there are so many sub-topics and related tangents on the subject. Don’t think that because you wrote about your subject on one post that you have exhausted the information to write about it. Revisit your most viewed posts and think about ways you can expand your coverage with additional articles.

8. Mix up the Formats

Blog posts do not necessarily need to always be text. Nowadays, videos and images are among the most viewed pages on top blogs. Experiment with many new and fun ways to communicate with your readers. Cartoons, inspirational quotes, striking photographs, infographics, charts, graphs and even audio files will shake things up on your site – for the better.

9. Share Opinions About Others Articles

Have you heard about curated content? This is the re-publishing of previously published articles on your blog with your own commentary. It is a brilliant way of generating more traffic and also to network with other bloggers. Here’s how to do it best: Link to the published content and share your opinions and commentary keeping in mind your readers’ perspectives.

10. News Sites in Your Industry

News websites are a bloggers new best friends. Every page has new story ideas, emerging trends, and interesting events. Use these items as writing prompts, and correlate them to your readers’ particular interests.

11. Question and Answer Sites

Visit Q&A sites such as Quora and Yahoo Answers for inspiration. Find the most viewed answers for your niche keywords. Here’s how to do it. Today, I put these keywords into the search box “how to start a business” and found a Topic (from the drop-down box) with 469 followers and these questions (each which could be answered as a targeted blog post for my market):

  • How do I start a graphic design business?
  • How do I open a coffee shop?
  • How do you get products manufactured with good quality and low capital investment?

12. Use Your Blog’s Comments

Read all your recent reader comments which contain nuggets of gold for blog post ideas. What subject clarifications are they requesting? What additional points or topics do they mention regularly? By using this process, you can produce some of your most fascinating posts. You can begin the article by copying and pasting the reader’s comment, thank the reader by name for their contribution, and then, proceed writing the answer as the article body.
