5 Steps to Promote Your Business on Pinterest

December 20, 2014 By Community Member

push pins pinterestAre you using Pinterest? Are you using Pinterest for her personal use or business use? It should be both!

Pinterest has grown substantially in the past few years, and did you know that the majority of users are women? This probably comes as no surprise, but it’s also why you should be using Pinterest to promote your business. Women are the ones that buy!

Here are a few simple steps to get you started on Pinterest for your business:

1. Sign Up

Go to Pinterest for Business and sign up for a business account. This will track your performance analytics as well, so you can see who is pinning and what they are pinning.

2. Fill in Your Profile

Write a profile that is geared to your business. Enter in your website, blog information, information about yourself, etc. Then, start creating boards and pins.

3. Start Pinning

Your pins should be a mix of personal likes and products. Don’t start pinning 50 products in the hopes people will repin and buy. You need to create trust and have a variety of pins for your brand. Insert your personality in your pins, because your visitors want to know you, too.

4. Pin a Video

People love videos! They love to see the real you, and watching a short video can do just that. Make sure to pin a video—or two! Share a video introducing your business and what you do or maybe give a walkthrough of your office. The possibilities are endless.

5. Pin Smart

Make sure to pin smart. Saturday morning or late at night is the most popular time for pins and repins. What does this mean? Don’t spend all your time pinning on a Monday morning. You want your visitors to see your pins at the best of times.

Pinterest is a fantastic referral source, and you can use it to gain traffic to your web site. The more traffic you get, the more likely people will buy your products or services.

Happy Pinning 🙂

These are great tips! I have a Pinterest account, but I don’t use it too much (mostly just when I’m looking for cute crafts to do). I’m just barely back on Facebook, so I’m trying to ease my way into more social networking. However, I do think that these tips are great for other social networks, too. Finding out when people are actually online (and posting at that time) will greatly increase your views, likes, reposts, shares, etc. I also like the tip about mixing up what you’re posting. If people are seeing the same things over and over they’ll stop looking at your account. And showing customers that you’re human, too, is a great way to gain new followers and customers, I think.
