Top 2013 Resolution for Business Women Should Be Saying No

December 18, 2012 By Susan Gunelius

NEWS AND INSIGHTS UPDATE:

For many business women, saying “no” is difficult, but learning to say that two-letter word can have a very positive effect on your career, your business, and your life. Stephanie Chandler shared the story of her personal Just Say No campaign on the Forbes Work in Progress blog, and it’s a great read for anyone who has trouble saying no.

Stephanie explains how much more free time she has since she learned to say no, how much more productive she is, how much happier and more fulfilled she is, and how much more successful she is today than she was before she learned to say no. She writes:

“I work less and earn more. When I got more focused on my time and put some boundaries around how I spent it, my productivity went through the roof and revenues followed.

“I bet if you look hard enough, you will find some commitments that no longer serve you. And you can resolve to practice the art of saying no in 2013, while you increase revenues in the process.”

What a perfect article for this time of year and making new year’s resolutions. And learning to say NO is a YES for me. The additional time and energy you’ll have to do what you want to focus on (and not feeling guilty for doing the things you don’t want to do) is a great way to take a step toward achieving many of your other resolutions.
