Help Each Other, Pay it Forward

September 26, 2011 By Hilary Brooks

Every businesswoman, woman business owner, self-employed woman, entrepreneur…. however you would like to refer to your self; has something to offer and wisdom to share.

Mentors are important; it is likely that if you think about it you have your own mentor, a friend or colleague, partner, that you go to for advice, to bounce ideas off of, which has helped you along the way.   It is also very likely that you have gotten to where you are not without some struggles and learning a few tricks of the trade.  Maybe you have created a few tricks of your own!   Everyone has something to share and we should certainly be sharing these thoughts, ideas, tricks, with other women entrepreneurs.  It can be as simple as going out to coffee with someone starting out, maybe contacting a local college, getting in touch with women in the business program, maybe writing a blog!

We all need a little help along the way, so we all need to help each other.  These actions of paying it forward will allow women to become even stronger and more powerful than we already are. Share the knowledge, grow together!

Paying it forward is a wonderful concept. We can get all caught up in our busy busy work days that it’s easy to forget that we can feel more fulfilled if we help others. Finding a mentor or being one to someone else is rewarding!

This is a very nice article. What a nice concept; thank you for putting it in writing. In my journey to become a self-employed success, I have met many women who were skeptical, derisive or even undermining. I could not help but wonder if they were merely afraid of their own perceived shortcomings. On the other hand, I have also met many women who were willing to contribute, mentor and even support. Perhaps it is not surprising that the latter women were far more successful than the former; they are the women who are the self-employed entrepreneurs I wish to emulate. They are the ones who make me want to help my fellow female business-owners in turn. We should all just “pay it forward”.
