Sometimes a good way is simply by making them feel valued, so you can ask them to provide their invaluable feedback to help other customers make informed decisions and give them a link to Trust Pilot or Google reviews. Amazon gift certificates and things that are cheap and easy to give away (no mailing) might work. A Lifetime discount on their orders of 5%, moving up a tier to a Gold customer, a free gift, skype credit… it depends what business you’re in, but I would start requesting without giving anything back (except gratitude) and then tweak as needed.

I also think your suggestion to implement a referral program is priceless. I am wondering what are some other incentives you used to entice people to help with the referral process? As a newbie in the profession I would greatly appreciate any other suggestions you have for getting a great referral system, since I know that referrals can be the best way to get customers.
